Data Warehouse Working Group

Active Working Group

Purpose: To advance the state of the practice and state of the art of software engineering by providing a warehouse of high-quality, empirical data for research and benchmarking.

Proposed Near-term Goals:

Develop a proposal for the SEI to release sanitized PSP/TSP data to the SEA
Create a place to house PSP/TSP data on the SEA website and on IEEE
Publicize the availability of the PSP/TSP data
Create a process to accept community contributions of data going forward
Provide subject matter experts to assist with the interpretation and use of the data

Working Group Training

Completed Working Group

Purpose: Foster the effective collaboration of working group members in our alliance.

Proposed Near-Term Goals:

Develop working group training for using Google Docs & Google Groups, capturing effective meeting minutes, tracking and reporting status, etc.
Provide this training to all current and new SEA working group members.

Purpose: To innovate new ideas, or refresh old good ideas, to promote excellence in the creation of software.

Example Activities/Goals/Outputs:

Create a community with engineers from academia and industry, interested in taking the risk to innovate the manner we develop software today, challenging the level of excellence we are able to achieve.
Consolidate a Community of people and organizations egoless willing to cooperatively create knowledge and share that knowledge with others people and organizations willing to do the same, in the end, the goal is to develop a very competitive community capable of providing an enormous value to the need of Trustworthy System Software.
To be open to a wide range of different possibilities to improve.

Community Networking & Membership

Active Working Group

Purpose: Support the passionate expansion of our alliance through growth and outreach. Cultivate a strategy for outreach and growth through networking with other organizations and through social media

Proposed Near-term Goals:

Lead an ongoing membership drive, including reaching out to SPINs and other like-minded groups
Identify categories of participation in the SEA (attendee, notified/mailing list, member, corporate)
Create and publish a membership directory, and a process for keeping it up-to-date
Assist new members to engage with the community
Survey inactive members to identify unmet needs and priorities
Extend our outreach to the larger software development community
Build marketing gravity around our alliance as a focal point for software excellence
Publicize alliance activities, share resources, and demonstrate thought leadership
Utilize a variety of social media channels
